Quick Tip: Easy Way to Remember the Colored Pencils and/or Copic Markers Used in a Project

Updated: Oct 9

I don't know about you, but I have a hard time keeping a record of the coloring supplies I use in a project. I start out with the best of intentions. But then the phone rings, the dog wants outside, the dog wants back inside, then the timer goes off and I have to finish dinner. In between those interruptions I come back to the desk and mindlessly start to clean up a bit. Without thinking I put my colored pencils and markers away. My coloring spot is all nice and fresh for when I can come back and color some more. That's all great until I comeback after dinner and realize that I haven't finished my project. Panic --what colors are these on my project?

That might not even be the end of my sad tale here. After I swatch again, find the right colors and finish my project I put all those supplies away again. Then someone comes along and says, "hey Kathy, can you tell me what colors you used on that yellow rose I saw of yours?" Well . . . no. I haven't any idea, I colored that months ago.

Then it hit me. Since I am so bad at writing down the colors I use, take a picture of them before I put them away. Problem solved! So that's my quick tip for you today.

Line up the supplies you used in your project and take a photo. After you save it to your computer, change the name of the photo to match that of your project. You will be the most admired colorer when someone asks you what you used on one of your projects and you can actually answer back.

Let me know what you think of this tip. Was it a lightbulb moment for you too?

Until next time, as they say (or should): Keep Calm and Practice On!
